Within the European Theatre
Festival Eurothalia, organised by the
German State Theatre Timisoara (GSTT), the following will be presented
the work demonstration “Traces
in the snow”, a production of the Odin Teatret company (Denmark)
Tuesday, the 10th
of October 2017, at 18 o’clock
in the Studio Hall of the
Hungarian State Theatre “Csiky Gergely” Timisoara
and the theatre performance “Clean City”,
a co-production of the Onassis Athens Cultural Centre (Greece) and the
Goethe Institute
Tuesday, the 10th
of October 2017 , at 20 o’clock
in the Hall of the German
State Theatre.
In “Traces in the snow”, the
actor’s technique becomes the protagonist. Actress Roberta Carreri talks with
the secrets that before and follow in building a character and the process of
creating a show, while exposing these secrets. The tension characteristic of
theatre is present in this work demonstration as well, due to the confrontation
between the two behavioural forms of the actress: the day to say and the stage.
“Clean City” is a theatre
performance that documents the day to day lives of immigrants working in the
cleaning industry in Greece.
Directors Anestis Azas and Prodromos Tsinikoris explore the racism of
“cleanliness” and “purity”, the dangers of fascism, feminine immigration from Greece and the
identity of the “cleaning lady” through this performance. As far as theatre of
real goes “Clean City”
traces and redefines stereotypes from the perspective and based on the personal
experiences of true experts in the field of cleaning: the immigrant cleaning
ladies from Athens.
At the same time, the performance explores the historical, political and
philosophical nuances of “cleanliness” as a normative concept adopted by Nazism
and that became the central point of racist ideology, based on the
extermination of “the other” to create a “pure race”.
