The German State Theatre (GSTT)
was invited to perform at three festivals in October 2017.
As such, the fairytale
performance The Little Prince based on Antoine de Saint-Exupéry will be
presented Monday, the 16th of October 2017, at 18 o’clock at the
Nottara Theatre in Bucharest, within the “Fest(in) pe Boulevard” Festival. The
5th edition of this festival contains mostly performances dedicated
to teenage crisis, reuniting – alongside the GSTT staging directed by Peter
Kerek – productions from Argentina, Bulgaria, South Korea, Croatia, France,
Germany, Moldavia and Romania.
Wednesday, the 18th
of October 2017 at 20 o’clock, the GSTT collective alongside the colleagues
from the Hungarian State Theatre “Csiky Gergely” in Timisoara will present at
the Figura Theatre in Gheorgheni, within the Colloquium of National Minority Theatres,
a co-production of the two theatres: Moliendo
café, directed by Silviu Purcărete. The Colloquium
represents one of the theatrical manifestations with the longest tradition in
our country, having been founded in 1978, back then in Sfântu Gheorghe. The
program is mainly comprised of productions by theatres in Romania that make
performances in languages of national minorities.
Also in October, the GSTT
co-production with the Esch Municipal Theatre (Luxemburg) of the performance Spring Awakening by Frank Wedekind will be presented within the National
Theatre Festival. The performances will be on the 26th of October
2017 at 18 o’clock and the 27th of October 2017 at 20 o’clock, at
the National Theatre in Bucharest. The play – called in subtitle “a tragedy of
children” – was staged at the GSTT by Luxemburg director Charles Muller, and
the staging is scheduled on tour in Luxemburg in spring, next year. The Timisoara audience can
catch the performance on Sunday, the 22nd of October at 19:30, on
the GSTT stage.
