UNITER 2023: Actrița Ida-Jarcsek Gaza – recompensată cu Premiul pentru întreaga activitate. Teatrul German de Stat – distincție pentru contribuția remarcabilă la viața multiculturală a Timișoarei

During the 2023 edition of the Romanian Theatre Union Awards (UNITER), actress Ida Jarcsek-Gaza will be awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award.

A leading personality of the theatre scene and also of German culture in Romania, Ida Jarcsek-Gaza has been inextricably linked for over half a century to the destiny of the German State Theatre, where she began her work immediately after graduating from the German Section of the Institute of Theatre and Film Arts (IATC) Bucharest.

The actress has distinguished herself for the versatility with which she has interpreted numerous roles in shows staged by national and international directors of great renown. She has collaborated with Yuri Kordonski (The Incredible and Sad Story of the Candid Eréndira and her Soulless Grandmother), Răzvan Mazilu (Cabaret), Clemens Bechtel (The Seagull), Volker Schmidt (The Cherry Orchard), Bocsárdi László (Electra), Alexander Hausvater (God Kurt), etc. She is one of the very few theatre people who have also cultivated trilingualism in their artistic work, performing on stage with equal naturalness in German, Romanian, and Hungarian.

He has toured extensively in Germany, Poland, Hungary, and Austria. Until September 2003, Ida Jarcsek-Gaza was head of the German language acting department at the Faculty of Music of the West University of Timișoara, and from 2003 to 2007 she was the director of the German State Theatre Timișoara, during which time the theatre produced numerous performances that won both public and critical acclaim. The energy and dedication of actress Ida Jarcsek-Gaza continue to inspire the artistic team of the German State Theatre Timișoara, for whom she was and remains an important mentor.

At the same time, on 13 March 2023, the UNITER Senate decided to award a special prize to the German State Theatre Timișoara - together with the National Theatre "Mihai Eminescu", the Hungarian State Theatre "Csiky Gergely" and the Theatre for Children and Youth "Merlin" - for the outstanding contribution of these institutions to the multicultural life of Timișoara.
