German State Theatre Timișoara

A new edition of the International Festival of German-Speaking Youth Theatre took place in Timisoara from 30 April to 4 May 2019. The festival started in 2000, being organized by the "Nikolaus Lenau" High School in Timișoara, in collaboration with the German State Theatre Timișoara (TGST), its objectives being to strengthen the status of the German language in the region, to educate young people through the theatrical arts, to promote intercultural communication and to encourage artistic debut.

This year, German-speaking theatre groups from Serbia, Bulgaria and Romania are participating in the Festival, bringing together young people of different nationalities.




The festival opened with the performance "Blessed" by Simona Vintilă, Tuesday, April 30, 7 pm. Other performances were also included in the programme, as well as specialist workshops by actors and theatre educators from Germany and Romania.



The participating theatre groups were: Theaterfreunde 011 (Belgrade), Bukowiner Phoenix (Chernivtsi), Lenauschule 2B (Timișoara), NiL (Timișoara), NiL junior (Timișoara), ArtAttack (Sibiu), FilmAb (Iași), Meine Theaterwelt (Montana).



Workshop leaders for this festival were: Enikő Blénessy (actress at GSTT), Dana Borteanu (actress at GSTT), Christian Bormann (freelance actor, singer, founder of the theatre group NiL), Gerd Eggers (free art therapy, expression and coach), Inka Butz (training as an actor using the PEM method), Yannick Becker (as a student, former NiL member), Timea Farago (theatre pedagogue, lecturer at Julius-Maximilians-Universität and director of the independent theatre group "Vom Effeff" in Würzburg), Kathrin Kroll (music and dance pedagogue), Dominik Kaiser (actor), Aljoscha Cobeț (actor at GSTT, former NiL member), Lucian Pană (actor, former NiL member).
