Rareș Hontzu

Actor

Rareș Hontzu was born in 1978 in Sibiu and graduated in 2003 from the German Drama Department within the Music and Theatre Faculty of the Western University of Timisoara. He has been acting at the GSTT since his graduation, temporarily he was also engaged at the German Department of the Radu Stanca National Theater in Sibiu, and in the 2007-2008 season at the German Stage in Szekszard, Hungary.


Among the roles he has performed, the following may be mentioned: The King in "Escorial" by Michel de Ghelderode (directed by Enikö Benczö and Darida Istvan), Cloten in "King Cymbelin" by William Shakespeare (directed by Alexander Hausvater), Mr. Martin in "The Bald Singer" by Eugene Ionesco (directed by Alexandru Dabija), Vladimir in "Waiting for Godot" by Samuel Beckett (directed by Christiane J. Schneider), Scheffler in "The Ugly One" by Marius von Mayenburg (directed by Theodor Cristian Popescu), Miss Rose in "The Girl in the Goldfish Bowl" by Morris Panych (directed by Radu Afrim), Saturninus in "Titus Andronicus" by William Shakespeare (directed by Brian Michaels), Eisenring in "Biedermann and the Arsonists" by Max Frisch (directed by Tompa Gabor) and Theodor Fuchs in "The Fuchsiade" after Urmuz (directed by Helmut Stűrmer and Silviu Purcărete).
